Moving Forward: Twitter chat for veteran business owners

National Veterans Small Business Week is Oct. 30 through Nov. 3, organized by the U.S. Small Business Administration. At noon Thursday the SBA will host a Twitter chat on business tips for veteran entrepreneurs. Use the hashtag #MyVetBiz to follow the conversation. According to the SBA, veteran-owned businesses contribute more than $1.14 trillion to the nation’s annual total sales and receipts New member Chico businessman Farshad Azad has joined the board of directors at the North Valley Community Foundation, based in Chico. Azad is the grandmaster of Azad’s Martial Arts Center and has held countless positions at various organizations in Chico in addition to being an experienced author and public speaker. Most recently, Azad’s project for Make a Difference Day, called “Gimme Some Sole,” was selected as one of 10 honorees in the country to receive $10,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. He is also being recognized by the Points of Light Foundation, founded by former President George H. Bush, with a Certificate for Community Service, according to a press release.
