Obama’s Interview With Prince Harry Looks Utterly Delightful

Over the past few years, Prince Harry and the Obamas have struck up a fast friendship. The Obama family stopped by the palace during an international diplomatic mission, and the prince recently flew over to the states for a visit with the former First Lady. Next, when Harry takes over BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Barack Obama is guesting for an interview with the prince—which Kensington Palace gave us a sneak preview of this morning. The clip shows footage taken right before the two launched into the official interview, while Obama and Harry were still chatting about what they’d discuss and checking sound levels. “Do I have to speak faster?” Obama asked. “Because I’m a slow speaker.” Harry assured him that he didn’t have to, “but if you start using long pauses between the answers, you’re going to get the face,” he said, giving the former president a pointed look. “You’re excited about this; I’m nervous about this,” the prince said. “That’s what’s quite funny.” “I'll interview you if you want,” Obama offered. “No, no, let’s keep it this way,” Harry said, laughing. “I’d much prefer that.” According to the Kensington Palace Twitter, their interview “focuses on their shared interest in building platforms for the next generation of young leaders” and “includes [Obama’s] memories of the day he left office and his hopes for his post-presidential life, including his plans to focus on cultivating the next generation of leadership through the @ObamaFoundation.” A segment of their chat will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on December 27th, and the full interview will go up later as a podcast.
